About the CD and the Book
The CD has digital photographs of all 610 pages of the book. In addition to the book pages, there are pages added from "History of the United States" by Gordy that cover the Massachusetts Bay Colony and the Puritans. This is where William settled in 1635. Other added documents are from the Adjutant General covering the History of the 29th Infantry, Ill. and Isaac Newton Davis' Civil War record. There is also a chart of the descendants of King Henry I down to Samuel Davis' wife, Mary Chamberlain, along with the purported published sources.
This is not an ordinary book on CD where the pages are merely scanned and published. These pages are enlarged and enhanced for easy reading. They are hyper linked together, backward and forward. All reference notes are hyper linked to the pages they refer to and all Family Groups are hyper linked to the referenced Groups. There is a frame with hyper links to all pages. There are, in fact, several thousand hyperlinks to make navigation around the CD easier and faster than using the printed version of the book. Hundreds of hours have gone into the making of this CD. Click on page 9 or "Sample P" in the book index for a sample page.
The book is filled with short biographies and stories about the people and families therein. It is far more than a genealogy book. It is a Davis and related families history book. Read about the deputy that captured escapees with an unloaded pistol, the family that hosted Prince Edward (Father of Queen Victoria) of England, or how Ohio State became known as "The Buckeye" state. Doctors, lawyers and Indian agents. Farmers, ranchers, merchants, reverends, sheriffs, singers, authors and more. They're all there. Over 1100 individuals from early 1600's to late 1800's. Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Maine, Kansas and more.
